Kristina Pardalos
Kristina is a professional with extensive experience in international, European, and human rights law, as well as commercial and civil law. A graduate of the University of Bologna, she has developed multidisciplinary skills that enable her to successfully handle complex cases both nationally and internationally.
Kristina is currently a lawyer and notary in San Marino, specializing in San Marino law and international contracts.
She is a member of the Equal Opportunities Authority of the Republic of San Marino, an institutional body responsible for preventing and combating gender-based violence.
She contributes to the coordination of the national anti-violence network, the development of public policies and victim protection measures, as well as awareness-raising and equality promotion activities.
She has also been a full member elected on behalf of San Marino to the Commission for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) since 2019 and to the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) since 2018. Furthermore, she served for over four years as a full member of the Guarantor of the Constitutionality of the Laws of the Republic of San Marino, of which she was President from July 2022 to March 2024.
From September 2017 to October 2018, she was Vice-President of the Section at the European Court of Human Rights, and from 2009 to 2018, she was a judge elected on behalf of San Marino at the European Court of Human Rights.
Her expertise focuses on the protection and promotion of human rights, with a solid and in-depth knowledge of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) system and its case law. She is an expert in gender-based violence, the rights of persons deprived of freedom, and monitoring systems for detention conditions, as well as in combating racism and intolerance and protecting children’s rights. Over the years, she has participated in numerous monitoring visits to detention facilities, immigration centers, and psychiatric institutions, often serving as head of delegation to foster dialogue with national authorities and represent the Committee at international conferences.
Kristina also has extensive experience in European and US immigration law, penitentiary law, and US law, providing advice on tax, pension, and citizenship matters. She is fluent in English and French, enabling her to communicate effectively both nationally and internationally. With an in-depth knowledge of digital platforms and IT tools, Kristina combines her technical skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
